Novovartalon® is a drug that results from thecombination of a natural chemical called glucosamine(1), intended to protect joints, and another synthetic chemical compound called meloxicam (selective COX-2 inhibitor)(2), which belongs to the line of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

What is novovtalon for?
- Thanks to its active components, novovartalon®helps protect and regenerate the protective parts of the joint cavity, also reduces the pain caused by the lack of cartilage in the joints, achieving a progressive improvement of osteoarticular ailments.
- It is used to treat:
- Osteoarthritis and its progression.
- Pain and inflammation caused by the degenerative process of osteoarthritis.
Dosage and routes of administration of novovartalon
Novovartalon® comes assachets containing glucosamine sulfate powder 1500 mg and meloxicam 15 mg. The administration of this medicine is by mouth and the recommended dosage is as follows:
- Osteoarthritis: Consume one sachet diluted in water once a day, at the time desired by the patient for a continuous period of 3 to 6 months.
Novovartalon Side Effects
Therapeutic treatment with novovartalon® may cause some of the following adverse effects in a certain patient population :
- Possible allergic reactions due to contact with any component of the formula.
- Dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting , abdominal pain .
- Transient liver function disease.
- Constipation, diarrhea , belching, esophagitis , gastrointestinal ulcer .
- Gastritis , colitis and hepatitis.
- Macroscopic or occult gastrointestinal bleeding in the stool and intestinal perforation.
- Headache, vertigo, tinnitus and drowsiness.
- Anemia , hypertension and palpitation.
- Urticaria, photosensitivity, erythema multiforme, and Stevens-Johnson syndrome .
- Risk of alteration in the quantification of blood glucose .
Important: If any of the symptoms on this list appear during treatment with novovartalon®, please discontinue use and consult your doctor .
Contraindications and warnings of novovartalon
The use of novovartalon® is contraindicated in the following circumstances:
- Hypersensitivity to any of the formula’s components.
- In patients with active gastric or duodenal ulcer.
- In cases of severe hepatic renal insufficiency.
- People with hives or rhinitis, caused by ASA and other NSAIDs.
- During pregnancy and Breastfeeding without the authorization of the doctor.
You should know: Before starting treatment with novovartalon®, it is necessary to provide all the information about your health history to your doctor.
Avoid if you have:
- History of hypersensitivity to meloxicam or other NSAIDs.
- History of acute asthmatic episodes.
- History of gastrointestinal disease.
- Treatment with an anticoagulant drug.
Warnings:
- Pharmaceutical products such as novovartalon® must be administered with a prescription or prescription.
- In diabetic patients, constant monitoring of blood sugar levels is necessary.
- Follow your doctor’s instructions during treatment with novovartalon®.
