What is the villain?

Vilona® is the name of a commercial line medical product, which is composed of the active antiviral principle of ribavirin , with precise indications to combat influenza and respiratory infections or even viral hepatitis.

What is the vilona for?

  • Vilona® has a broad-spectrum or coverage antiviral action mechanism, mainly due to the availability of the substance called ribavirin, which acts as a synthetic nucleoside derived directly from guanosine, having various benefits such as preventing replication or multiplication of a particular virus , especially that involved in hepatitis. (two)
  • It is used to treat:
    • Herpes labial.
    • Herpes genital.
    • Herpes zoster.
    • Chicken pox.
    • Influenza (A and B).
    • Respiratory infections.
    • Hepatitis viral (A,B y C).
    • Parotitis.

Dosage and routes of administration of vilona

Vilona® has different product presentations, among which the 400 mg ribavirin capsules for oral administration stand out , there is also the oral solution or injectable solution of 100 mg of ribavirin and 40 mg drop solution for the children. Dosages in capsule form are as follows:

  • Adults: An administration of 1 capsule is recommended three times a day, for a duration of 10 days or 20 days, varying the treatment in clinical cases.

Side effects of vilona

Vilona® can cause adverse effects, mainly when there is an excess dose or little tolerance to the active substance, therefore caution should be exercised in these cases. The secondary reactions of which information is available are the following:

  • Anemia.
  • eye pain
  • Dyspnoea.
  • Runny nose.

Vilona contraindications and warnings

Vilona® is not indicated for a number of patients, given certain conditions that can have quite negative effects on the health of people who are being treated with said drug. Therefore, it is not recommended in these cases:

  • Hypersensitivity to ribavirin.
  • Pregnancy and lactation .
  • Autoimmune hepatitis.
  • Liver failure.

Avoid if you have:

  • severe depression
  • Severe heart conditions.
  • heart disease
  • Thalassemia.

Warnings:

  • It is recommended to use the drug under a prescription or prescription.
  • Consideration should be given to the use of contraception with your partner during treatment for hepatitis infections.
