Victan: What is it and what is it used for?

What is victa?

Victan® is the trademark of a synthetically manufactured medication that uses ethyl loflazepate (1) as an active substance , a chemical compound belonging to the line of psychotropic medications, with an effect on the central nervous system (CNS).

What is the victan for?

• Thanks to its active ingredient, victan® is part of the group of benzodiazepines and has a specific agonist action mechanism at the level of central receptors called “GABA-OMEGA macromolecular receptors”, achieving an anxiolytic effect in patients with mental illness . sedative, hypnotic, anticonvulsant, muscle relaxant and anesthetic.
• It is used to treat:
  • Unspecified Anxiety , Substance-Induced Anxiety, Anxiety Due to a General Medical Condition, and Generalized Anxiety. (3)
  • Acute stress, post-traumatic stress.
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder.
  • Specific phobia and social phobia.
  • Panic disorder with or without agoraphobia.
  • Panic crisis.
  • Panic attack.

Dosage and routes of administration of victan

Victan® is sold in tablets containing ethyl loflazepate 2 mg. The route of administration is oral and the informative dosage may be as follows:

• Anxiety: In general, the dose is ½ to 1 1⁄2 tablets per day (1 to 4 mg/day), in one or more doses per day.
• In sleep disorders caused by anxiety: 1 tablet (2 mg), one hour before bedtime.

Victan side effects

Therapeutic treatment with victan® may cause some of the following side effects in a certain patient population:

• Possible allergic reactions due to contact with any component of the drug.
• Memory impairment , attention disturbance, and speech disorders.
• Muscular hypotonia and drowsiness.
• Asthenia and bradyphrenia.
• Aggressiveness, excitement, dream confusion syndrome and hallucinations .
• Physical dependence and withdrawal syndrome.

Important: During treatment with this drug, some of these symptoms or others not included in the list may appear, so the patient should stop using it and notify the doctor.

Contraindications and warnings of the victan

The use of victan® is contraindicated in the following circumstances:

• Patient hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula or to benzodiazepines.
• Patients with decompensated respiratory failure.
• People with closed-angle glaucoma.
• In cases of sleep apnea.
• In minor children.
• Patients in shock.
• During the pregnancy period.
• During breastfeeding .

You should know: Before starting treatment with this drug, the patient must provide their doctor with all the information regarding their health history .

Avoid if you have:

• History of hypersensitivity to ethyl loflazepate or benzodiazepines.
• History of drug or other dependencies.

Warnings:

• Products such as victan® must be administered with a prescription or prescription.
• Prolonged use of this drug can create dependency.
• Do not exceed the dose recommended by your doctor and follow his instructions.
• Do not mix this product with other psychotropic, anxiolytic, hypnotic medications.
