What is esmisen?

Esmisen® is a brand name medicine thatuses as active ingredientsB vitaminsandketorolac, two chemical compounds that belong to the line of medicineswith analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect, ideal for treating certain musculoskeletal ailments.

What is esmisen for?

  • Thanks to the combination of its active ingredients, esmisen®manages to inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandinsat the peripheral level, resulting in blocking the generation of the painful impulse, in addition to providing the necessary vitaminsfor neuromuscular recovery.
  • It is used to treat:
    • Peripheral neuropathies among which can be found facial, trigeminal, intercostal and herpetic.
    • Pain after surgery. (2)
    • Neuropathies such aslow back pain, cervicalgias, brachialgia and radiculitis. (3)
    • Alcoholic neuropathy, diabetic and carpal duct syndrome.
    • In general in the treatment of mild, moderate and severe pain.

Dosage and routes of administration of esmisen

Esmisen®is sold as tabletscontaining ketorolac tromethamine 5 mg, thiamine mononitrate 50 mg, pyridoxinehydrochloride 50 mg, cyanocobalamin 1 mg andsolution for injectionin a box of two vials containing ketorolac tromethamine 15 mg (ampoule 1), vitamin B1 100 mg, vitamin B6 100 mg andvitamin B125 mg (ampoule 2).

The administration is carried out according to the presentation used, being oral and intramuscular respectively andthe dosage as a referential can be the following:

  • Tablets: The recommended dose is 1 tablet every 6 or 8 hours for the time indicated by your doctor.
  • Injectable solution:For post-surgical pain, it is recommended to administer the combination of both vials (1 and 2) and place them intramuscularly every 6 hours for 3 days. For the rest of the pathologies, the combination of both ampoules placed intramuscularly, every 12 or 24 hours according to the assessment of the treating physician, is recommended.

Emisen Side Effects

Therapeutic treatment with esmisen® Can cause some of the following adverse effects in a certain patient population:

Contraindications and warnings of esmisen

The use of esmisen® is contraindicated in the following circumstances:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the formula’s components.
  • Patients with acid peptic disease.
  • Patients with gastrointestinal bleeding or gastrointestinal perforation.
  • People with moderate or severe renal insufficiency.
  • Women during childbirth.
  • In children in the postoperative period of tonsillectomy.
  • In early Leber ‘s disease .
  • Children under 12 years of age.
  • During pregnancy or breastfeeding .

You should know: Before starting treatment with this medicine, provide all the information regarding your health history to your doctor.

Avoid if you have:

  • History of hypersensitivity to the components of the formula or to NSAIDs.
  • History of inflammatory bowel disease.
  • Medication with methotrexate or anticoagulant drugs.

Warnings:

  • Emisen® is a product for delicate use, which must be administered under prescription and with strict medical supervision.
  • Follow your doctor’s instructions while taking this drug.
  • Persons operating vehicles or precision machinery should exercise caution.
