Estomaquil® is the registered trademark of a synthetic medicine, which uses the combination of three active substances that are bismuth subsalicylate (bismuth salts) (1) , magnesium hydroxide and calcium carbonate (2) , chemical compounds belonging to to the line of antacid medicines, with an effect on certain ailments of the digestive system .

What is the stomach used for?

  • Thanks to the mechanism of action of its active ingredients, estomaquil® protects the intestinal mucosa from the abrasion of digestive acids , in addition to neutralizing stomach acidity. It also works as a bactericide against certain pathogenic organisms, providing benefits and relief in those patients suffering from gastrointestinal diseases .   
  • It is used to treat: 
    • Peptic , gastric or duodenal ulcer .
    • The eradication of Helicobacter pylori .
    • Gastritis , stomach indigestion and heartburn.

Dosage and routes of administration of the stomach

The presentation of estomaquil® is in a box with sachets containing bismuth subsalicylate 0.300 g, magnesium hydroxide 1,100 g and calcium carbonate 1,600 g. The administration of this medication is orally and the dosage for information may be as follows:

  • Children over 6 years of age and adults: The dose is one to two sachets a day for as long as the doctor indicates.

Treatment with estomaquil® can cause some of the following adverse effects in certain patients :

  • Possible adverse reactions due to patient contact with any of the components of the formula.
  • Dark coloration of feces .

Contraindications and warnings of the stomach

The use of estomaquil® is contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the medical formula.
  • People with kidney failure.
  • In children under 6 years of age.
  • During the pregnancy period.
  • During the breastfeeding period .
