Dolac® is a medicinethat belongs to the line of analgesic drugs and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which usesketorolac as an active ingredient, a chemical compound for the treatment of mild, moderate or severe pain.

What is dolac for?
- Dolac®, thanks to its mechanism of action, inhibits the production or synthesis of prostaglandinsthat cause pain and inflammation, with the consequent relief ofdifferent painful processes due tovarious causes.
- It is used to treat:
- Acute pain of moderate to severe intensity, short-term. (2)
- Dysmenorrhea. (3)
- Post-surgical pain.
- Headache ormigraine.
Dosage and routes of administration of dolac
Dolac® is soldas tabletscontaining 10 mg ketorolac and 30 mg/ml solution for injection. The route of administration goes according to its presentation, beingoral, intramuscular or intravenous respectivelyand the dosage for information purposes may be as follows:
- Tablets: In adults a single dose of one 10 mg tablet, for up to 7 continuous days.
- Injectable solution:30 mg every 4-6 hours intramuscularly in adults, without exceeding the maximum dose of 120 mg. In children older than 3 years, an initial dose of 1.0 mg/kg intramuscularly or 0.5-1.0 mg/kg intravenously, followed by 0.5 mg/kg every 6 hours intravenously.
dolac side effects
Pharmacological therapy with dolac® may cause some of the following adverse effects in a certain patient population:
- Possible allergic reactions due to contact with any component of the formula.
- Ulcer, perforation or gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Nausea, Vomiting , diarrhea , flatulence, and constipation .
- Dyspepsia, abdominal pain , hematemesis, stomatitis and ulcerative stomatitis.
- Belching, esophagitis , rectal bleeding, pancreatitis, and dry mouth.
- Sensation of fullness, exacerbation of colitis and Crohn’s disease.
- Abnormal thoughts, depression , drowsiness, insomnia , anxiety, nervousness, psychotic reactions, among others.
- Blood and lymphatic system disorders such as thrombocytopenia.
- Hypotension, water retention and edema.
- Asthma and dyspnea.
- Decreased ability to concentrate.
Important: If you notice the appearance of any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine, please stop using it and notify your doctor .
Contraindications and warnings of dolac
The use of dolac® is contraindicated in the following circumstances:
- Hypersensitivity to any of the formula’s components.
- Patients at risk of renal failure due to hypovolemia or dehydration.
- Patients with recurrent and recent peptic ulcer or hemorrhage.
- Patients with severe heart failure.
- Patients with moderate or severe renal insufficiency.
- During pregnancy or breastfeeding .
You should know: Before starting treatment with this drug, provide all information about your health history to your doctor.
Avoid if you have:
- History of hypersensitivity to ketorolac or other NSAIDs.
- History of allergy to aspirin or other prostaglandin synthesis inhibitors.
- History of active bleeding or recent gastrointestinal perforation.
Warnings:
- This pharmaceutical product is not indicated for patients with chronic pain conditions.
- Pharmaceutical products such as dolac® must be administered with a prescription or prescription.
- Avoid self-medication with this drug.
- Follow your doctor’s instructions regarding dosage and duration of therapy to avoid further complications.
