Dimegan D® is the name of a commercial line drug, composed of two essential active ingredients calledloratadine and phenylephrine hydrochloride, which give this drug the ability to be anantihistamine and a sympathomimeticwith direct action on thesympathetic nervous system.

What is dimegan D for?
- Dimegan D® with its compound loratadine, serves as adirect antagonist of histamine, which when released causes symptoms of allergic reactions by the immune system to protect the body (such as allergic rhinitis, nasal congestion and pruritus), but sometimes occurs when it is not necessary. Together with phenylephrine hydrochloride, they candirectly stimulate the receptors of the sympathetic system, increasing vasoconstriction and dilation. (2)
- It is used to treat:
- Allergic rhinitis.
- Nasal itching.
- Nasal congestion.
Dimegan D dosage and routes of administration
Dimegan D® comes in a variety of forms, mainly in25 mg tablets or extended-release capsules, 100 ml nasal solutions and also in 100 ml syrups, all with an oral and nasal route of administration for liquid solutions. The most recommended doses of dimegan D® are the following tablets:
- Adults: Administer 1 tablet once or twice a day.
- Children from 6 years to 12 years: The use of 1 tablet only twice a day is recommended, with a previous established medical prescription.

Dimegan D® is a drug with a high tolerance in the body, however it is not surprising that it presents certain adverse effects, some more frequently than others. Therefore, it is necessary to be informed of the following adverse reactions:
- Drowsiness.
- Headache.
- Hypertension.
- Gastritis.

Contraindications and warnings of dimegan D
Dimegan D® is not indicated for the treatment of certain patients, since it doginteract in a negative wayand also worsen the health of the person using it if caution is not exercised. Therefore, its administration is not recommended in the following cases:
- Hypersensitivity to the active components of the formula.
- Peptic ulcer .
- Diseases in the coronary arteries.
- severe hypertension
- Pregnancy and lactation .
Avoid if you have:
- Narrow angle glaucoma.
- Diabetes mellitus.
- Urinary tract retention .
- Hyperthyroidism
Warnings:
- It is advisable to use the drug preferably with a medical prescription.
- Keep the drug out of the reach of children.
- Keep the medication reserved at room temperature.
- It is better to reserve the drug in a dry place.
