The word logorrhea (from the Greek logos and rheo flow) or also calledverbiageor verbal incontinence, is anexcessive alteration of the flow of language.
This condition is considered amental illnessdue to incoherent talkativeness, because it occursas a communication disorder, although currently there is no information onthe degree of verbal productionthat must be reached to be considered a logorrhea.
On the other hand, logorrhea (sometimes confused withtachypsychia) is characterized by anexaggeratedloquacity, which corresponds to a disordered and incessant flow of words and is accompanied byideoflucious or saltigrade thinking, that is, the meaning of concepts and words is duplicated or changed in a capricious way.
Important: The basic difference between logorrhea and verbiage is that the former occurs due to a psychiatric or mental condition, while verbiage occurs inepisodes of stress, anxietyor nerves.
What are the causes of logorrhea?
As we have mentioned, the main causes of logorrhea come from apsychiatric or mental condition of the patient. Here are the most common causes:
1. Brain injuries

2. Mental disorders

To highlight: Logorrhea can appear in poisoning by some of these substances (alcohol, cocaine, amphetamines, among others).
How is logorrhea cured?
There are some strategies to treat patients with logorrhea, which we will mention below:
1. Psychological therapy
If the cause of logorrhea is temporary and underlies a psychiatric pathology, it is advisable to seek advice from a psychologist or psychiatrist to diagnose and treat this language disorder, through the psychiatric imbalance suffered by the patient.
2. Drugs prescribed by a specialist
Pharmacological treatment for language disorders should be assessed from a multidisciplinary point of view, since there may be multiple causes that cause logorrhea, including psychological or brain injuries.
Important:Medications must be indicated by a specialist, prior assessment and diagnosis. Under no circumstances should you resort to self-medication for this condition.
3. Medical care and surgery in case of injuries
