What is scabisan?
Scabisan® is the trademark of a synthetically manufactured medicine that uses permethrin (1) as its active principle , a chemical compound belonging to the line of scabicide and pediculicide medicines with an effect on certain skin conditions .

What is the scabisan used for?
- Thanks to the mechanism of action of its active principle, scabisan® acts on the nervous cell membrane of the mite and alters the current in the sodium channel that regulates the polarization of the membrane, leading to the subsequent paralysis of the parasite . (3)

- scabies (scabies).
Dosage and routes of administration of scabisan
Scabisan® presentations are in a tube with cream, which contains 5.0 g permethrin and in a 120 ml bottle (Scabisan plus) containing 5.0 g permethrin per 100 ml. The administration of this medicine is by topical route and the dosage as a reference can be the following:
- Scabisan® cream: Adults and children apply to the area of the skin with a gentle massage from the neck (including temples, forehead and scalp) to the soles of the feet.
- Scabisan® emulsion: Adults and children from 2 months of age apply with a gentle massage on the skin from the neck (including temples, forehead and scalp), to the soles of the feet.
Scabisan Side Effects
Therapeutic treatment with scabisan® can cause some of the following adverse effects in a certain population of patients :
- Possible allergic reactions from contact with any component of the drug.
- Itching, erythema and irritations.
- Itching and redness.
Important: If during treatment with this drug any of these symptoms or another not described in the list appear, please stop using it and consult your doctor .
Contraindications and warnings of scabisan
The use of scabisan® is contraindicated in any of the following cases:
- Patient hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula.
- Children under two months of birth.
- In burns, skin wounds and skin rash.
- During the period of pregnancy without medical supervision.
- During the period of breastfeeding without the approval of the doctor.

Avoid if you have:
