What is salbutamol?
Salbutamol (albuterol) is a synthetic medication that is characterized by being an active principle with bronchodilator properties, which produces an effect on the smooth muscles of the respiratory tract for the relief of certain lung conditions in children and adults.

Dosage and routes of administration of salbutamol
The presentation of salbutamol is varied, the most common being syrup, solution, aerosol suspension with a nebulizer inhaler and a pressure aerosol container. The route of administration, depending on the case, can be oral or by inhalation and the dose according to its presentation and the medical recommendation can be the following:
- Acute exacerbation of asthma: In adults it is recommended to use a dose of 2.5 to 5 mg every 20 minutes, up to completing 3 doses. In children under 12 years of age it is 0.5 ml (2.5 mg of salbutamol) diluted in 2.0 to 2.5 ml of 0.9% isotonic saline solution.

Salbutamol Side Effects
Salbutamol can cause some of the following side effects in certain patients:
- Possible adverse reactions due to contact with any component of the formula.
- Palpitations, tachycardia, nervousness and peripheral vasodilatation.
- Mild irritation to mouth and throat on inhalation.
- Spasms and fine muscle tremors transiently.
- Headache.

Contraindications and warnings of salbutamol
Salbutamol is contraindicated in the following cases:
- Hypersensitivity to any of the formula’s components.
- Patients with thyrotoxicosis, hyperthyroidism.
- People with Parkinson’s disease.
- During pregnancy or lactation .

Warnings:
