What is rogastril used for?
- Thanks to the mechanism of action of cinitapride, rogastril® acts by blocking presynaptic receptors for serotonin , increasing its release resulting in greater serotonergic activity. This helps stabilize the motility of the digestive tract .
- It is used to treat:
- Gastroesophageal reflux.
- Functional disorders of gastrointestinal motility (impaired gastric evacuation). (two)
Dosage and routes of administration of rogastril
The presentation of rogastril® is in tablets, with cinitapride acid tartrate equivalent to 1 mg of cinitapride. The administration is orally and the posology as a reference can be the following:
- Adults: 1 tablet every 8 hours or three times a day, 15 minutes before each main meal.
Side effects of rogastril
Clinical data indicate that the therapeutic use of rogastril® may cause some of the following adverse effects in a certain patient population:
- Possible allergic reactions due to patient contact with any component of the formula.
- Spasms of the muscles of the face, neck and tongue in cases of excessive dosage.
- Slight sedation or drowsiness in elderly patients, due to prolonged use.
- Asthma, hives and skin rash.
- Bleeding, diarrhea , abdominal pain , nausea.
Important: If any of the symptoms indicated or another not included in the list appears, please stop treatment and consult your doctor .
Contraindications and warnings of rogastril
The use of rogastril® is contraindicated in the following situations:
- Patient hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula.
- Patients in whom the stimulation of gastric motility may be harmful (bleeding, obstruction and perforation).
- During the pregnancy period.
- During breastfeeding .
You should know: Before starting treatment with this medication, provide all information about your medical history to your doctor.
Avoid if you have:
- History of hypersensitivity to cinitapride.
- History of tardive dyskinesia due to neuroleptics.
Warnings:
- Pharmacological products such as rogastril® must be administered with a prescription or prescription.
