Pidotimod is a drug classified as an active ingredient , which belongs to the line of immunostimulant drugs with an effect on the human immune system . (1)
What is pidotimod used for?
- Thanks to its mechanism of action, pidotimod reinforces and stimulates both the immune mechanisms involved in humoral immunity and those of cellular immunity mediated by T lymphocytes, helping to strengthen the action of the immune system .
- It is used to treat:
- Secondary and primary immunodeficiency problems with altered maturation of T lymphocytes, in infections of the respiratory system. (two)
Dose and routes of administration of pidotimod
Pidotimod usually comes in the form of 400 mg and 800 mg tablets, as well as a 400 mg and 800 mg 7 ml solution with high absorption through the digestive tract. The administration is orally and the dosage as a reference can be as follows:
- Tablets: Adults a dose of 2 tablets of 400 mg or 1 tablet of 800 mg, twice a day with meals removed. Elderly and children, a dose of 1 tablet of 400 mg, twice a day away from meals is recommended.
- Suspension: Adults a single-dose bottle of 800 mg, twice a day away from meals. Elderly and children, a single-dose bottle of 400 mg twice a day away from food. In case of prophylaxis, the dose to be used is the same but for a longer period of time, according to the judgment of the treating physician.

- Pulmonom® is a medication that contains bacterial lysates , particularly from respiratory tract pathogens, to act as an immunostimulant.
- It is used to treat and prevent certain endemic-type respiratory infections, as well as respiratory tract infections from polluted environments.

Side effects of pidotimod
Therapeutic treatment with pidotimod may cause, in a certain patient population , some of the following adverse effects:
- Possible allergic reactions due to patient contact with any component of the formula.
- Sedation, ataxia, dyspnea, and cyanosis.
- Some patients may have cases of diarrhea .
Important: If any of these symptoms occur during treatment with pidotimod, please discontinue use and consult your doctor .
Contraindications and warnings of pidotimod
The use of pidotimod is contraindicated in the following cases:
- Hypersensitivity to any of the formula’s components.
- In patients who are being medicated with immunosuppressive drugs.
- During the pregnancy period, especially during the first trimester.

Avoid if you have:
- History of hypersensitivity to pidotimod.
Warnings:
