What is onoton used for?
- Thanks to the combination of its active ingredients, onoton® helps in the digestion of sugars, fats and proteins due to the enzymes that compose it, in addition to acting by breaking the surface tension of the bubbles throughout the gastrointestinal tract, favoring the transit of food especially through the large intestine, facilitating bowel movements.
- It is used to treat:
- Digestive disorders (gas, indigestion and inflammation) caused by pancreatic insufficiency, chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic fibrosis and post pancreatectomy. (5)
- Geriatric patients with reduced secretion of digestive enzymes.
Dosage and routes of administration of onoton
Onoton® is sold in boxes with tablets containing pancreatin 175 mg, hemicellulase 50 mg and simethicone 25 mg. The administration is orally and the informative dosage can be as follows:
- Indigestion and flatulence: 1 or 2 tablets three times a day, after meals.
side effects of onoton
Results of clinical studies indicate that onoton® may cause, in a certain patient population , some of the following adverse effects:
- Possible allergic reactions due to patient contact with any component of the formula.
- Skin rash, hives and angioedema.
- Cystic fibrosis, ileus and constipation .
- Vomiting and irritation of the oral mucosa.
- Abdominal pain and diarrhea .
- Anal itching, intestinal stenosis and fibrosing colonopathy.
- hyperuricemia.
Important: If the patient observes the appearance of any of these symptoms or another that is not on the list, please stop using this medicine and notify your doctor .
Contraindications and warnings of onoton
Treatment with onoton® is contraindicated in the following cases:
- Hypersensitivity of the patient to any of the components of the drug.
- Patients with obstruction of the biliary tract.
- Children under 12 years of age.
- People with acute pancreatitis.
- In women during the pregnancy period.
- During breastfeeding .
You should know: Before starting treatment with this medicine, the patient must provide his doctor with all the information related to his health history .
Avoid if you have:
- History of hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula.
- Attacks of acute pancreatitis or exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis.
Warnings:
- Pharmaceutical products such as onoton® must be administered with a prescription or prescription.
- The tablets should not be chewed or crushed before consumption.
- Follow your doctor’s instructions and do not alter the recommended dose.
- This drug contains purines, so it should be administered with caution in patients with gout, hyperuricemia or renal failure.
