What is naxodol?
Naxodol® is the trademark of a synthetically manufactured combined medication, which uses naproxen and carisoprodol (1) as active components , two chemical compounds belonging to the line of medications with anti-inflammatory, analgesic and muscle relaxant properties, with an effect on painful processes in muscles, tendons and ligaments .

What is naxodol used for?
- Thanks to the dual action of its active ingredients, naxodol® acts by inhibiting prostaglandin , a substance responsible for triggering inflammation as a pain mechanism and also has properties that function as a muscle relaxant. These actions allow alleviating acute painful processes in muscles and tendons .
- It is used to treat:
- Injuries and muscular, tendon and ligament strains.
- Low back pain , stiff neck , bursitis, dislocations. (3)

Dosage and routes of administration of naxodol
The presentation of naxodol® is in capsules, which contain naproxen 250 mg and carisoprodol 200 mg. The administration of this medication is orally and the dosage for information may be as follows:
- Children over 12 years of age and adults: The usual dose for this patient population is two capsules every 12 hours.
Naxodol Side Effects
Therapeutic treatment with naxodol® can cause in a certain population of patients , some of the following adverse effects:
- Possible allergic reactions due to patient contact with any of the drug’s components.
- Peptic ulcer , perforation, or gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Epigastric burning, nausea, esophagitis , vomiting , diarrhea .
- Flatulence, constipation , dyspepsia, abdominal pain .

- Stomatitis, ulcerative stomatitis, exacerbation of ulcerative colitis.
- Crohn ‘s disease , pancreatitis and gastritis .
- Agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia, eosinophilia.
- It can produce a profile of hemolytic anemia, leukopenia and thrombocytopenia.
- Aseptic meningitis, Stevens Johnson syndrome .
- Depression , sleep disorders , insomnia .
- Dizziness , drowsiness, headache , dizziness, retrobulbar optic neuritis, seizures.

Contraindications and warnings of naxodol
The use of naxodol® is contraindicated in the following circumstances:
- Patient hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula.
- In children under 12 years of age.
- People with hypersensitivity to drugs from the NSAID group such as acetylsalicylic acid , which has caused asthmatiform syndrome, rhinitis or nasal polyps.
- Patients with severe heart failure or renal failure.
