What is meclison?

Meclison® is a synthetic medicine, withlong-acting anticholinergic and antihistamine properties, which contains in its formulation the active ingredients of 25 mg of meclizine or meclozine (meclizinehydrochloride) with 50 mg of pyridoxine.

What is meclison for?

  • The combination of the components of meclison®, works under the concept of having thesame action of antihistaminesthat act on the peripheral structures of the vestibular labyrinth with theability to reduce vertigo, which together with pyridoxine manage to calm some imbalances in the functioning of the internal auditory system.
  • It is used to treat:

Dosage and routes of administration of meclison

Meclison® has several presentations, either in a box of tabletsor tablets, solution in drops and bottle of syrup, whose route of administration is oral. The usual dose to treat the above cases is as follows:

  • Dizziness from radiation therapy in adults: 50 mg given 2 to 12 hours before radiation therapy, once daily.
  • Dizziness due to travel in adults: Administer 25 to 50 mg as initial dose, before starting the trip. If necessary, the same dose can be repeated every 24 hours during the trip.
  • In children between 6 months of age and 6 years of age: Follow the doctor’s recommendation.
  • In case of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy: 25 mg to 50 mg is usually the effective dose.
  • In disorders of the inner ear: 25 to 100 mg per day is usually an optimal dose.

Meclson Side Effects

  • Allergic reactions due to contact with any chemical component of meclison®.
  • headache.
  • Nausea.
  • Fatigue.
  • Dryness of the oral mucosa.
  • Drowsiness.
  • It can cause episodes of hyperexcitability in children.

Important: If the adverse effects recur, Stop the medication and consult a specialist.

Contraindications and warnings of meclison

meclison® is contraindicated in the following circumstances:

  • Hypersensitivity to meclizine or pyridoxine.
  • Breastfeeding women.
  • Patients suffering from hepatic insufficiency.

To highlight: Provide all necessary information to your doctor about your medical history, before starting treatment with meclison®.

Avoid if you have:

  • That drive or operate machinery.
  • Glaucoma
  • Prostatic hyperplasia.

Warnings:

  • It is recommended that your dosage does not exceed 100 mg daily in adults and in children over 6 years of age.
  • Clinical data recommend administering this medication 1 hour before starting the trip.
  • Avoid administering without a prescription.
  • Avoid consuming this medicine if you are drinking alcoholic beverages.
  • Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
  • Avoid self-medication.
