What is levigrix used for?
- Levigrix®, thanks to the mechanism of action of its active ingredient, acts by blocking the action of histamine , the molecule responsible for the appearance of allergy symptoms in the body .
- It is used to treat:
- Seasonal allergic rhinitis. (two)
- Perennial allergic rhinitis.
- Chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Dosage and routes of administration of levigrix
Levigrix® is sold as tablets with 5 mg of levocetirizine dihydrochloride and as a solution (5 mg/ml) in a 100-ml bottle, with 50 mg of levocetirizine dihydrochloride. Administration is orally and the dosage as a reference may be as follows:
- Tablets: Children 6 and 12 years of age, one 5 mg tablet once a day. Adolescents over 12 years of age and adults, a dose of 5 mg per day for the time indicated by your doctor.
- Solution: Children from 6 to 12 months of age, the indicated dose is 5 drops or 2.5 ml of solution once a day. Children 1 to 2 years of age, the indicated dose is 5 drops or 2.5 ml of solution twice a day. Children from 2 to 6 years of age, the indicated dose is 5 drops or 2.5 ml of solution twice a day. Children between 6 and 12 years of age, 20 drops or 10 ml. Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age, 20 drops or 10 ml.
levigrix side effects
Clinical data indicate that pharmacological treatment with levigrix® may cause some of the following adverse effects in a certain patient population:
- Possible allergic reactions in people sensitive to the components of the formula.
- Headache.
- Drowsiness.
- dry mouth
- Fatigue.
- Pharyngitis and nasopharyngitis.
Important: If any of these symptoms or another not included in the list appear during treatment with levigrix®, please stop using it and consult your doctor .
Levigrix contraindications and warnings
The use of levigrix® is contraindicated in the following circumstances:
- Patients who have hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula.
- In children under 6 months of age in the case of the solution and in children under 6 years of age in the case of tablets.
- Patients with severe renal insufficiency.
- During the pregnancy period.
- During breastfeeding .
- Patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, in the case of tablets.
You should know: Before starting treatment with this drug, provide all information about your medical history to your doctor.
Avoid if you have:
- History of hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine , cetirizine , or other piperazine derivatives.
- Lactose intolerance .
Warnings:
- Pharmaceutical products such as levigrix® must be administered with a prescription or prescription.
- Avoid consuming beverages containing alcohol during therapy with this drug.
- Avoid driving vehicles or operating precision machinery when taking this medicine.
- Levocetirizine should not be administered in combination with other central nervous system (CNS) depressants, as there is a risk of potentiating side effects.
