What is the legalon used for?
- Thanks to the mechanism of action of its active ingredient, legalon® is a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes the action of free radicals, which cause damage to liver cells exposed to various toxins.
- It is used to treat:
- Conditions that occur with acute and chronic hepatitis.
- Alcoholic hepatitis and hepatic steatosis.
- Liver cirrhosis.
Dosage and routes of administration of legalon
Legalon® is presented in a box with capsules containing silymarin 70 mg. This medication is administered orally and the dosage as a reference may be as follows:
- Adults: A dose of 2 capsules three times a day after meals.
- Children over 1 year of age: The recommended dose is 1 capsule three times a day and in liver cirrhosis 2 capsules 3 times a day.

Data from clinical studies indicate that therapeutic treatment with legalon® may cause some of the following adverse effects in a certain group of patients :
- Possible appearance of allergic reactions due to patient contact with any chemical component of its main ingredient.
- Diarrhea , constipation , nausea, vomiting , and bloating.
- Itching, headache .

Contraindications and legalon warnings
The use of legalon® is contraindicated in the following cases:
- History of hypersensitivity to silymarin or plants of the ragweed family.
- Patients with arterial hypertension.
- People with severe liver disease.
- During the pregnancy period.
- During breastfeeding .
