Laritol® is the name of a commercial line pharmaceutical product, whose main characteristics are that of being an antihistamine against symptoms related to allergic reactions. This is achieved thanks to the presence of a well-known active ingredient called loratadine .

What is laritol used for?
- Laritol® is part of the antihistamine drugs, mainly thanks to the active substance loratadine, of which several studies state that it acts as an antagonist against the chemical molecule of histamine, which is activated for the security or protection of the immune system. and causes certain symptoms such as inflammation, allergic reactions and even secretions, however these processes occur excessively or at times not indicated. - Allergic rhinitis.
- Runny nose .
- tearing
- Vasomotor or seasonal rhinitis.
- Itching.
- Urticaria.
Dosage and routes of administration of laritol
Laritol® can be purchased in the initial presentation of drop solutions, usually containing 1 mg of loratadine up to at least 100 mg of loratadine, which can be administered directly into the nostrils. Besides it has presentation in tablet or syrup solutions for oral administration . The doses of laritol® that are most prescribed are the following:
- Adults: Loratadine drops of 2.5 ml up to at least 5 ml of loratadine can be administered every 12 hours a day.
- Children over 12 years of age: It is recommended to administer drops of 2.5 ml of loratadine every 12 hours a day, without exceeding what is indicated in the treatment.
Laritol Side Effects
Laritol®, despite its positive indications for the symptoms of allergic reactions, can bring a string of adverse effects , some more frequently than others (such as changes in the central nervous system ). Therefore, for any patient taking this drug, you should be aware of the following reactions:
- Headache.
- Drowsiness.
- dry mouth
- Gastritis.

Contraindications and warnings of laritol
Laritol®, like several antihistamine drugs, is not indicated for a certain number of patients due to the negative interactions it may have with certain conditions, which, if they worsen, can have serious consequences for the patient who is being treated with said drug. Therefore, it should not be used in the following cases:
- People with hypersensitivity to the active ingredient.
- Pediatric patients less than 1 year old.
- Pregnancy.
- Lactation stage .
Avoid if you have:
- Active peptic ulcer .
- Diabetes mellitus.
- Renal insufficiency.
Warnings:
- It is advisable to use this drug with a medical prescription (especially during pregnancy).
- Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
- Keep the drug sealed and in a completely dry place.
- Ideally, keep the medication at room temperature.
