What is geslutin for?
- Geslutin®possesses the properties of natural progesterone, specifically as a gestagen, antiestrogen, antiandrogen and antialdosterone, which helpsregulate and stabilize reproductive and fertility cycles in women.
- It is used to treat:
- Secondary infertility due to luteal deficiency.
- Regulation of menstruation. (3)
- Benign mastopathies.
- Recurrent abortion.
- Preterm birth.
- Hormone replacement in the pre- and postmenopausal period and in women deprived of ovaries.
- Premenstrual syndrome.
- Supplementation in the luteal phase, during spontaneous or induced cycles.
Dosage and routes of administration of geslutin
Geslutin® is soldas capsules or pearls, 100 or 200 mgwith micronized progesterone. The administrationis oralor vaginal and the dosage as a referential may be as follows:
- Progesterone insufficiency: Doses of 200 to 300 mg of progesterone per day, divided into two doses preferably in the morning and before bedtime outside meals.
- Luteal insufficiency (PMS, benign mastopathy, menstrual irregularities, premenopause): 2 to 3 capsules of 100 mg per day, as directed by your doctor.
- Menopausal treatment: 2 x 100 mg capsules or 1 x 200 mg/day capsule taken at bedtime as directed by your doctor.
- Vaginally in the replacement of progesterone in women with ovarian deprivation:1 pearl of 100 mg vaginally according to medical indications.
- Vaginally in the threat of abortion or in the prevention of repeated miscarriage due to luteal insufficiency: 2 to 4 pearls of 100 mg or 1 to 2 pearls of 200 mg vaginally / day according to medical indications.
Side effects of geslutin
Clinical data indicate that geslutin®therapy may cause in a certain population of women, some of the following side effects:
- Possible allergic reactions due to the patient’s contact with any component of the formula.
- Probable alteration of menstrual rhythm.
- Presence of fatigue, nausea, headache andmigraine.
- It can causedepressionand changes in libido.
- Occasional drowsiness or vertigo.
Important: If any of these or other unlisted symptoms occur during treatment with geslutin®, pleasediscontinue use and consult your doctor.
Contraindications and warnings of geslutin
The use of geslutin®is contraindicatedin the following cases:
- Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula.
- Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding.
- Ongoing or incomplete abortion.
- Patients with known breast or genital tract cancer.
- Dubin-Johnson syndrome.
- During the breastfeedingperiod.
You should know: Before starting treatment with this medication, give all the information about your health history to yourdoctor.
Avoid it if you have:
- History of hypersensitivity to any of the components of geslutin®.
- Severe liver disease.
- Deep vein thrombosis or active pulmonary embolism.
Warnings:
- Pharmacological products such as geslutin®, must be administered with a prescription or prescription.
- The administration of this medicine as a supplement therapy during the period of pregnancy, is at the discretion of the attending physician.
