What is fluxacord?

Fluxacord®is a medicine that is composed of ciprofloxacin(1), a chemical that works as an active ingredient and belongs to the line of drugs with antibiotic effectto counteract infections.

What is fluxacord for?

  • The fluxacord® thanks to its active ingredient, acts in the inhibition of bacterial topoisomerases type II, which are needed for the replication, transcription, repair and recombination of DNA. With this, it is possible to eliminate all those bacteria susceptibleto ciprofloxacin such asSerratia marcescens, Escherichia coli, klebsiella pneumoniae, neisseria gonorrhoeae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, neisseria meningitidis, among others that are responsible for some infections in the body.
  • It is used to treat:
    • Respiratory infections.
    • Otitis media and sinusitis .
    • Eye infections.
    • Kidney and urinary tract infections.
    • Genital infections.
    • Infections of the abdominal cavity.
    • Anthrax by inhalation.
    • Skin and soft tissue infections(3)
    • Bone and joint infections.
    • Septicaemia.
    • Infections or imminent risk of infection in patients with a suppressed immune system.
    • Prophylaxis of invasive infections.
    • Typhoid fever .

Dosage and routes of administration of fluxacord

Fluxacord® is sold in 500 mgciprofloxacin tablets, in boxes with different quantities. The route of administration is oral and the dosage presented below is for information:

  • Tablets: In general, the recommended dose is between 250 mg and 500 mg orally every 12 hours, according to the pathology diagnosed by the doctor with a duration between 10 and 14 days for adults and children.

Therapeutic treatment with fluxacord® can cause some of the following adverse effects  in certain patients :

  • Possible allergic reactions due to contact with any component of the formula.
  • States of anxiety and irritability.
  • Nausea, vomiting and diarrhea .
  • Hallucinations, insomnia and vertigo
  • Headache, dizziness, tiredness, abdominal pain and skin rashes.

Important: If any of these symptoms or other symptoms not included in this list appear during treatment with fluxacord®, please discontinue use and notify your doctor .

Contraindications and warnings of fluxacord

The use of fluxacord®  is contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the formula’s components.
  • During the pregnancy period.
  • During the Breastfeeding

You should know: Provide all the information about your health history to your doctor, before starting treatment with this drug.

Avoid if you have:

  • History of hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin or quinolones.
  • Personal or family history of long QT syndrome and brain tumor.


  • Pharmaceutical products such as fluxacord®, must be administered with a prescription or prescription.
  • Do not administer this medicine during the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  • Caution is recommended during the administration of ciprofloxacin, in people with pre-existing lesions in the Central Nervous System .
  • For patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency, doses should be administered with great caution.
  • Keep this drug out of the reach of children.
