What is dorixin relax?

Dorixina relax® is the name of a commercial medical product, whose active compound is lysine clonixinate and cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride , both with analgesic, anti-inflammatory and relaxing characteristics for muscle tissues. 

Note: Dorixina relax® is part of the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, being manufactured and distributed by Siegfried Rhein laboratories . (1)

What is dorixin relax used for?

  • Dorixin relax® is a product that inhibits cyclooxygenase , known for being an enzyme that synthesizes prostaglandins, which are substances in charge of transmitting pain nerves and also inflammation to stimuli, as a type of natural reaction of the organism. 
  • It is used to treat: 
    • Muscle pains. (two)
    • Scapulohumeral periarthritis or painful shoulder.
    • Osteoporosis.
    • Osteoarthritis.
    • Fractures or contractures.
    • trauma.

Dosage and routes of administration of dorixin relax

Dorixin relax® comes in the form of capsules, containing 130 mg of both active metabolites in a box with 20 tablets, with an oral route of administration and specific doses such as the following:

  • Adults: 1 tablet or 5 mg of the capsules is used , every 8 hours or 3 times a day. Without exceeding more than 6 tablets in the treatment.

To highlight: Treatment with this medication may vary depending on the degree of pain felt or the condition suffered by each patient, which will be determined by the treating physician. 

Dorixin relax side effects

The components of dorixin relax® bring with them certain side effects , some are more frequent but they should not be overlooked. Among the effects for which there is clear information, are the following (3) :

  • Drowsiness.
  • Nausea.
  • gastritis .
  • Dyspepsia.
  • Blurry vision.
  • Headache.

Important: If the aforementioned adverse effects occur for a long time, it is necessary to suspend the administration of this medication and consult a specialist doctor. 

Contraindications and warnings of dorixin relax

Dorixin relax® is contraindicated in certain patients, since components such as lysine clonixinate may not have an adequate interaction depending on the person’s condition. Therefore, it is not recommended in the following conditions:

  • Hypersensitivity to the active principles.
  • Adolescent patients or children under 15 years of age.
  • Heart failure.
  • Patients with cardiac arrhythmia.
  • Pregnancy and lactation .

Avoid if you have:

  • Cardiovascular problems.
  • Peptic ulcer .
  • Recent myocardial infarction .
  • Hyperthyroidism (excess secretions in the thyroid glands).

Warnings:

  • This medication should be used with a prescription, for patients with a history of digestive conditions.
  • Caution should be exercised in patients under the effects of drugs that depress the nervous system .
  • Keep this drug out of the reach of infants.
  • It is recommended to keep this medication in a dry place at a temperature of 30°.
