Dilarmine is the registered trademark of a combined synthetic drug, which uses paramethasone(1) andchlorphenamine®(2) as active ingredients, two chemical compounds belonging to the line of corticosteroid and antihistamine drugs respectively, witheffect on certain conditions of the body’s immune system.

What is dilarmine for?
- Thanks to the mechanism of joint action of its active ingredients, dilarmine®allows to resolve the allergic conditionsof patients who present with inflammatory processes and itching, especially those who present with pruritus, givingrelief on the annoying symptomscaused.
- It is used to treat:
- Atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis and eczematoiddermatitis.
- Angioneurotic edema.
- Severe seborrheic dermatitis and neurodermatitis.
- Erythema multiforme, hives, insect bites,hay fever.
- Seasonal rhinitis, perennial allergies, vasomotor rhinitis,bronchial asthma.
- Conjunctivitisand iridocyclitis, as well as some drug reactions.
Dilarmine dosage and routes of administration
Dilarmine comes as tabletscontaining paramethasone acetate 1 mg and chlorphenamine maleate 2 mg, also availablein a 100 ml bottle with suspensioncontaining paramethasone acetate 20 mg and chlorphenamine®maleate 40 mg. The administrationis oralin both cases and the dosage as a referential can be as follows:
- Tablets:Adults one dose of one tablet daily. Children 6 to 14 years of age, one tablet every 12 hours.
- Suspension:Adults one teaspoon three times a day as an average dose. In children 6 to 14 years old, half a teaspoon three to four times a day.
Dilarmine Side Effects
Therapeutic treatment with dilarmine®may cause some of the following side effects in a certain patient population:
- Possible allergic reactions from contact with any of the components of the medicine.
- Sodium retention, high blood pressure and potassium loss.
- Muscle weakness and osteoporosis.
- Petechiae, ecchymosis and facial erythema.
- Increased intracranial pressure, risk of developingCushing’s syndrome.
- Growth suppression in children andmenstrual irregularities.
- Subcapsular cataract and glaucoma.
- Nervousness, euphoria, hirsutism, insomnia, drowsiness and irritability.
- Pancytopenia, hemolytic anemiaand thrombocytopenia.
- Confusion, hallucinations , tremor.
- Epigastric discomfort, urinary retention , pancreatitis and abdominal distension.
- Dryness of the mouth, nose and throat .
Important: If during treatment with this drug the patient shows any side effect or other not listed, please stop using it and notify your doctor .
Contraindications and warnings of dilarmine
The use of dilarmine® is contraindicated in any of the following conditions:
- Patient hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula.
- Patients with systemic fungal infections.
- People with uncomplicated viral hepatitis and fulminant liver failure.
- During the pregnancy period.
- During breastfeeding .
You should know: Before starting treatment with dilarmine®, the patient must provide his doctor with all the information related to his health history .
Avoid if you have:
- History of hypersensitivity to corticosteroid or antihistamine medications.
- Treatment with MAO inhibitors.
- Myasthenia gravis, prostatic hypertrophy and glaucoma.
- Herpes simplex keratitis and vaccinations with live products.
Warnings:
- Pharmaceutical products such as dilarmine® must be administered with a prescription or prescription.
- It should be noted that corticosteroid drugs should not be administered to patients with Peptic Ulcer Disease , osteoporosis, psychosis, severe psychoneurosis, or acute infections.
- Special caution should be taken with patients suffering from congestive heart failure, diabetesMellitusInfectious diseases , chronic renal failure, uremia and in the elderly population.
- Do not administer to children under 6 years of age, without the consent of the doctor.
- Follow your doctor’s directions while using this drug.
- Do not exceed the recommended dose without medical approval.
- Keep this product out of the reach of children.
