What is the dance?

Danzen® is a medication whose active ingredient is serratiopeptidase (1) , a proteolytic enzyme with anti-inflammatory and fibrinolytic (mucolytic) effects. It should be noted that this drug is commercially patented by the company named Laboratorios Hormona . (two)

What is the dance for?

  • Danzen® is used as a highly effective anti-inflammatory treatment in certain pathologies in the body, improving the patient’s quality of life.
  • It is used to treat:
    • Infections in the ears, throat and nose. (3)
    • Inflammation in gynecological surgery.
    • Inflammation from trauma, fractures and injuries. (4)
    • Helps to eliminate infections in otorhinolaryngology. 
    • In pneumology it eliminates swelling, inflammatory exudate and edema.

Dosage and routes of administration of danzen

Danzen® comes in boxes of 20 tablets of 5 mg and 10 mg with enteric coating and the route of administration is oral. The dose as an informative reference is the following:

  • Children from 5 to 12 years: 1 tablet of 5 mg, 3 times a day (every 8 hours) with water.
  • Adults: 2 tablets of 5 mg, 3 times a day or 1 tablet of 10 mg, 3 times a day with water, at the discretion of the treating physician.

Treatment with danzen® can cause certain adverse effects in some people that can deteriorate their health and which we mention below:

  • Nausea and vomiting .
  • Liver dysfunction.
  • Stevens-Johnson syndrome (serious disorder of the skin and mucous membranes).
  • Skin rash and epidermal necrolysis (blistering and peeling on the skin).

Important: In case of presenting any of the aforementioned reactions, it is recommended to stop treatment with danzen® and consult a doctor. 

Contraindications and warnings of danzen

Treatment with danzen® is contraindicated in the following cases: 

  • Do not administer if you have an allergy or hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
  • In patients with acute pancreatitis.
  • If there is yellow degradation of the liver.

You should know: It is always appropriate to provide all the information to the treating physician about your health history, before starting treatment with danzen®.

Avoid if you have:

  • blood dyscrasia.
  • Hypoprothrombinemia.
  • Renal or hepatic impairment.
  • Alteration of blood coagulation.

Warnings:

  • Close surveillance should be maintained in patients treated with anticoagulants.
  • It should not be administered without a prescription.
  • You should maintain close medical supervision if it is administered during pregnancy or lactation .
  • Keep this drug out of the reach of children.
