What is compound malival?

Malival Compound® is the registered trademark of a combined medication, which uses Indomethacin and Methocarbamol as active ingredients , two chemical substances belonging to the line of muscle relaxant and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, with an effect on ailments in the body .

What is the compound malival used for?

  • Thanks to the mechanism of joint action of its active ingredients, the malival compound® has an inhibitory action on the synthesis of prostaglandins, providing analgesic and anti-inflammatory efficacy to different painful processes, as well as offering a muscle relaxing effect while reducing spasm .
  • It is used to treat: 
    • Acute pictures of muscle mass contracture and pain. (two)
    • Bursitis, tendonitis, synovitis, tenosynovitis, capsulitis. (3)
    • Painful shoulder, neck pain, low back pain , lumbosciatica, rheumatoid arthritis.
    • Inflammation and muscle spasm such as muscle strains, myositis, sprains , torticollis .
    • In the orthopedic postoperative period, inflammation and pain after reduction and immobilization of fractures and dislocations as an adjuvant.

Dose and routes of administration of the compound malival

Malival Compound® is presented in a box with capsules containing indomethacin 25 mg and methocarbamol 215 mg. The administration of this medication is orally and the dosage for information may be as follows: 

  • Capsules: A dose of one capsule every 4-6 hours is recommended, depending on the intensity of the symptoms and the judgment of the treating physician. 

Compound Malival Side Effects

Therapeutic treatment with malival compound® may cause some of the following adverse reactions in a certain population of patients : 

  • Allergic reactions due to contact with any component of the formula.
  • Nausea, anorexia, vomiting , epigastric discomfort.
  • Abdominal pain, constipation or diarrhea . 
  • Single or multiple ulcers, including perforation and bleeding of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, small intestine, or large intestine.
  • Jaundice or elevated liver enzymes.
  • Drowsiness,  headache , vertigo, depression and fatigue.
  • Peripheral neuropathy with weakness or paresthesia of the hands and feet.
  • Itching, rash and urticaria. 
  • Alopecia and psoriasis. 
  • Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis.

Important: If the patient manifests any of these symptoms or another not described, please discontinue use and consult your doctor .

Contraindications and warnings of the compound malival

The use of malival compound® is contraindicated in the following cases: 

  • Patient hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula.
  • Patients with perioperative pain from coronary by-pass.
  • Patients with active peptic ulcer .
  • In children under 12 years of age.
  • Patients with medication for other pathologies without the authorization of the doctor.
  • During the period of pregnancy or breastfeeding .

You should know: The patient must provide his doctor with all the information related to his health history, before starting treatment with this drug.

Avoid if you have:

  • History of hypersensitivity to the chemical components of the drug.
  • History of bronchial asthma, urticaria, rhinitis, angioedema, or bronchospasm precipitated by acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs.
  • History of recurrent gastrointestinal ulceration.
  • History of impaired kidney and liver function, hypertension, and fluid retention .

Warnings:

  • Pharmaceutical products such as the malival compound®, must be administered with prescription or medical prescription.
  • Do not exceed the dose indicated by your doctor.
  • Follow your doctor’s instructions during treatment with this medication.
  • Continuous medical surveillance is recommended during the use of this drug, in patients with cardiovascular diseases.
  • This product should be used with caution in patients with psychiatric disorders.
  • Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
