What is combesteral?

Combesteral® is a pharmaceutical medicine, which uses the combination of two chemical compoundsconsidered active ingredients that aredexamethasoneandB vitamins, belonging to the line of medicines with systemic anti-inflammatory effect and neuromuscular analgesic, with effect on the neuromuscular system of the body.

What is the combesteral for?

  • Thanks to its chemical compounds, combesteral prevents or suppresses the immune and inflammatory responses of the immune system(2), in addition to relieving painful conditions of neuromuscular origin, due to itspowerful analgesic effecton the nerve terminals of the musculoskeletal®system.
  • It is used to treat:
    • Neuritis, neuralgia and polyneuritis. (3)
    • Intercostal neuralgia, low back painand alterations of the sciatic nerve.
    • Paresis and paresthesias of the facial nerve.
    • Cervical syndrome, herniateddisc, myalgia.
    • Scapula-humeral syndrome.
    • Radiculopathies.
    • Tendinitis and inflammatory alterations of joint structures.
    • Initially acute neuritis.
    • Patient with rheumatological alterations.
    • Pain and inflammation in surgical patients with pre and postoperative.
    • Pain and inflammation in polytraumatized patients.

Dosage and routes of administration of combesteral

The presentation of combesteral® is in a box of injectable solution with 3 vials, 1 of 1 ml with 205 mg of complex B and another vial with 4 mg of dexamethasone and 30 mg of Lidocainetag. The administrationis intramuscularly and the dosage as a reference can be the following:

  • Adults: One daily dose with the mixture of both vials (1 and 2), applied by deep intramuscular route for 5 continuous days.

Side effects of combesteral

Pharmacological treatment with combesteral® can cause some of the following adverse effects in a certain population of patients :

  • Possible appearance of allergic reactions due to contact with any component of the formula.
  • Peptic ulcer and vomiting .
  • Insomnia and irritability.
  • Skin rash.
  • Nervousness or euphoria.

Important: Discontinue use and notify your doctor if any of these symptoms, or any other symptoms not listed here, occur during treatment with this drug.

Contraindications and warnings of combesteral

The use of combesteral® is contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the formula’s components.
  • Patient with gastric and duodenal ulcer.
  • Generalized fungal infections.
  • People with glaucoma or Leber ‘s disease .
  • Patients suffering from viral infections.
  • In severe liver or kidney failure.
  • In infections such as tuberculosis.
  • Suffering from severe psychotic states.
  • In people with diabetes mellitus, congestive heart failure or osteoporosis.
  • During pregnancy or breastfeeding .

You should know: Provide all the information regarding your health history to your doctor, before starting treatment with this medication.

Avoid if you have:

  • History of hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula.
  • History of hypersensitivity to corticosteroid drugs.

Warnings:

  • Due to the corticosteroid component that makes up the formula of this medicine, it is considered delicate for use, so it must be administered by a specialist doctor.
  • Follow your doctor’s instructions during treatment with combesteral®.
  • Do not exceed the dose recommended by your doctor.
  • Keep these vials out of the reach of children.
  • Avoid a sudden suspension of the drug, after administration for a long time.
