Clendix®is the trademark of a semi-synthetic pharmaceutical medicinethat usesclindamycin as its active ingredient, a chemical compound belonging to the line of medicines with bacteriostatic antibiotic effect andwith action on some bacteria that cause infections in the body.

What is clendix for?
- The clendix® thanks to the action of its active ingredient, inhibits the synthesis of bacterial proteins thus preventing the replication and development of bacteria such asstaphylococci, streptococciandpneumococci, most anaerobicbacteria andwith it theelimination of different types of infections ofbacterial origin.
- It is used to treat:
- Upperrespiratorytract infections including tonsillitis, pharyngitis, pharyngotonsillitis, sinusitis, infections of dental origin and otitis media.
- Lower respiratory tract infections includingbronchitis,Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, empyema, and lung abscess. (2)

- Bone and joint infections.
- Gynecological infections.
- intra-abdominal infections.
- Septicemia, endocarditis and encephalitis.
Dosage and routes of administration of clendix
The presentation of clendix® is in a box with capsules,which contain clindamycin hydrochloride equivalent to 300 mg of clindamycin. The administrationis orally and the posology as a reference can be the following:
- Adults: The average dose is 150 mg to 450 mg every 6 to 8 hours, depending on the pathology to be treated and the doctor’s recommendation.
- Children: The general dose is 8 mg to 30 mg/kg per day in 3 or 4 equal doses or according to the diagnosis and medical recommendation.
Clendix Side Effects
Therapeutic treatment with clendix® may cause some of the following adverse effects in a certain patient population:
- Possible allergic reactions due to contact with any component of the formula.
- Abdominal pain, diarrhea , nausea, Vomiting , esophagitis , and pseudomembranous colitis .
- Maculopapular erythema and urticaria.
- Jaundice and inconsistencies in the results of liver function tests.
- Leukopenia, eosinophilia, agranulocytosis and thrombocytopenia.
- Pruritus, vaginitis and exfoliative dermatitis .
- Polyarthritis.
Important: If any of these symptoms or another not included in the list appear during treatment with clendix®, please stop using it and notify your doctor .
Contraindications and warnings of clendix
The use of clendix® is contraindicated in the following circumstances:
- Patient hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula.
- In patients who are being treated with erythromycin .
- During the first trimester of pregnancy.
- In the Breastfeeding period .
You should know: Provide all the information regarding your medical history to your doctor, before starting treatment with this drug.
Avoid if you have:
- History of hypersensitivity to components of clindamycin or lincomycin .
- History of gastrointestinal diseases associated with antibiotics.
Warnings:
- Pharmaceutical products such as clendix®, must be administered with prescription or medical prescription.
- It should be taken into account that clindamycin has neuromuscular blocking properties, so drugs with this action should be avoided.
- Adverse reactions may occur for two to three weeks during treatment with this medicine, for which constant medical supervision should be carried out.
- Keep this product out of the reach of children.
- During treatment with this drug, follow your doctor’s instructions.
