What is cefalver for?
- The cefalver® thanks to its active ingredient that is considered a bactericide, inhibits the synthesis of the cell wall of bacteriasuch asstaphylococcus aureus, streptococci, klebsiella pneumoniaeamong others, eliminating them. This is possibleto attack and suppress infectionsin the body.
- It is used to treat:
- Respiratory tract infections. (2)
- Otitis media.
- Skin and soft tissue infections. (3)
- Urinary tract infections (including acute prostatitis).
- Dental infections.
- Infections of the bones and joints.
- Rheumatic fever.
Dosage and routes of administration of cefalver
The presentation of cefalver® is powder for suspension in bottles of 125 and 250 mg/5 mland in capsules of 500 mg. The route of administration in both casesis oral and the indicative dosage can be as follows:
- Cefalver® suspension 250 mg:Children up to 10 kg of weight, 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoons four times a day. Children up to 20 kg of weight, 1/2 to 1 teaspoon four times a day. Children up to 40 kg of weight, 1 to 2 teaspoons four times a day.
- Cephalexin 500 mg tablets:In patients over 15 years of age and adults, the usual dose is one 250 mg capsule every 6 hours or 500 mg every 12 hours, depending on the type of pathology to be treated. In children from 25 to 50 mg/kg of weight, daily in divided doses.
Cefalver Side Effects
Clinical data describe that therapeutic treatment with cefalver® can cause some of the following harmful effects in certain patients :
- Possible allergic reactions due to contact with any component of the formula.
- Pseudomembranous colitis.
- Nausea, diarrhea and vomiting .
- Dyspepsia and abdominal pain .
- Transient hepatitis and cholestatic jaundice .
- Skin rash, urticaria and angioneurotic edema.
- Erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis.
- Central nervous system disturbances such as confusion and Hallucinations .
- Arthralgia, arthritis and joint disorders.
Important: If any of these symptoms or other symptoms not included in this list appear during treatment with this drug, please discontinue use and notify your doctor .
Contraindications and warnings of cefalver
Cefalver® therapy is contraindicated in the following circumstances:
- Hypersensitivity to any of the formula’s components.
- During the pregnancy period.
You should know: Give your doctor all the information about your health history, before starting treatment with this drug.
Avoid if you have:
- History of hypersensitivity to cephalosporin.
- History of penicillin allergy .
Warnings:
- This pharmaceutical product must be administered with a prescription or prescription.
- This medication should not be administered with the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
- Prolonged use of this drug should be avoided.
- Concomitant use of this drug with anticoagulants such as vitamin K should be avoided .
- Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
