Carnotprim® is asynthetic medicine whose active ingredient ismetoclopramide hydrochloride, which belongs to the line of medicines with central gastroenterokinetic and antiemetic properties(1), allowing to reduce the symptoms of somegastrointestinal conditions.

What is carnotprim for?
- Carnotprim® is oriented towards the treatment ofsome disorder and alterations at the gastrointestinal level, but it really includes a wide variety of uses.
- It is used to treat:
- Gastrointestinal conditions, gastroesophageal reflux, gastroenteritis.
- Metabolic and endocrine alterations. (3)
- Primitive chronic gastritis, gastroparesis and atrogenics to counteract the effects of opioid anticholinergic use.
- Induction oflactation. (4)
- Infectious gastroenteritis.
- Gastric ulcer, pyloric stenosis, intestinal pseudoobstructions. (5)
- For prophylaxis in nausea and/or vomiting by chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
- Metabolic and endocrine alterations.
- Psychic alterations, neuromuscular and muscular dystrophies.
Dosage and routes of administration of carnotprim
Its presentation is insyrup bottle of 100 mL, tablets 10 mg in box with 20 or 30 pieces andsolution for injection in ampoules 10 mg / 2 mLand its route of administration is oral and intravenous respectively. The dose of administration according to its presentation is as follows:
- Syrup: From 0.3 to 0.5 mg / kg of weight divided into 3 doses.
- Tablets: For over 12 years, 1 tablet 3 or 4 times a day before meals.
- Blisters: Administer 1 ampoule every 6 to 8 hours intravenously or intramuscularly as recommended by your doctor.
side effects of carnotprim
Treatment with carnotprim® can cause some of the following Adverse effects in certain patients :
- Allergic reactions to the components of carnotprim®.
- Effects
- Effects on our central nervous system (CNS) such as anxiety attacks , sweating and cold hands, panic attacks, among others.
- Sleepiness and tiredness.
- Dizziness and feeling of being sedated.
- Some extrapyramidal reactions ( Torticollis , trismus, oculogyric crisis).
Important: If any of these symptoms appear, discontinue use and consult your doctor.
Contraindications and warnings of carnotprim
Carnotprim® is contraindicated in the following circumstances:
- Hypersensitivity to the components of carnotprim®.
- Patients with acute appendicitis.
- Patients with high-risk gastrointestinal disorders.
You should know: It is recommended to provide the doctor with all the information about your medical history, before starting treatment with carnotprim®.
Avoid if you have:
- Any condition where increased gastrointestinal motility occurs.
- Renal insufficiency.
- Intestinal occlusion.
- During the first trimester of pregnancy.
Warnings:
- Pharmaceutical products such as metoclopramide do not require a prescription for their acquisition, but they do require a prescription.
- It can cause alterations in the central nervous system.
- Do not consume if you are drinking alcoholic beverages.
- Do not exceed the dose indicated by your doctor.
- Keep out of reach of children.
