What is butymaxil for?
- Butymaxil® through its active chemical substance inhibits the synthesis of the bacterial cellwall interfering with the growth and division phase of the cell wall of bacteria, preventing their development. This actioneliminates the bacteria that cause some infectionsand their symptoms.
- It is used to treat:
- Tonsillitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, pneumonia of multiple foci.
- Skin and softtissue infectionsuch as impetigo, bullous impetigo, furunculosis, pyodermitis, cellulitis.
- Septic arthritis, osteomyelitis and pyomyositis.
Dosage and routes of administration of butymaxil
Butymaxil® is soldin a box with capsules, containing dicloxacillin sodium monohydrate equivalent to 500 mg dicloxacillin. The administrationis oraland the dosage as a referential may be as follows:
- Butymaxyl® capsules: In mild to moderate upper respiratory tractand skin infections in the adult population, 250 to 500 mg (one capsule) every 6 hours. For severe infections, 500 mg to 1 g every 6 hours.
Butimaxil Side Effects
Data from clinical studies indicate that pharmacological treatment with butimaxil® may cause some of the following adverse effects in a certain patient population:
- Possible allergic reactions due to patient contact with any component of the formula.
- Nausea, Vomiting , epigastric discomfort, flatulence, and diarrhea .
- Pseudomembranous colitis.
- Pruritus, hives, skin rashes.
Important: Discontinue use and Consult your doctor if you notice any of these symptoms or another not listed, during treatment with this drug.
Contraindications and warnings of butimaxil
The use of butimaxil® is contraindicated in the following cases:
- Patient hypersensitivity to Penicillins , cephalosporins or any component of the formula.
- Patients with interstitial nephritis.
- In case of serum sickness.
- During pregnancy or breastfeeding .
You should know: Before starting treatment with antibiotics such as butimaxil®, provide all the information regarding your health history to your doctor.
Avoid if you have:
- History of hypersensitivity to penicillin, cephalosporins or any component of the formula.
- Bronchial asthma.
- Angioneurotic edema.
Warnings:
- Pharmaceutical products such as butimaxil®, must be administered through prescription or medical prescription.
- Do not exceed the therapeutic dose indicated by your doctor.
- During treatment with this drug, you should follow your doctor’s instructions.
- It must be taken into account that antibiotic treatment alters the normal flora of the colon and can favor the development of Clostridium difficile .
- Do not administer this medication if you are being medicated for other pathologies, without medical approval.
- Keep this product out of the reach of children.
