Asenlix® is theregistered trademark of a pharmaceutical medicinethat uses clobenzorex(1), a chemical compound belonging to the line of appetite suppressant medicines, withan effect on thecentral nervous system (CNS), as a principle.

What is asenlix for?

  • Due to the mechanism of action of its active ingredient, asenlix®produces the release of theneurotransmittersnoradrenaline, dopamine and serotonin that induces a feeling of satiety and decreases appetite, in addition to creating a stimulating effect on the CNS. All this action leads to theloss of body weight in people with obesity problems.
  • It is used to treat:
    • Exogenous obesity. (3)
    • Patients who are overweight or obese, who have not responded to diet and physical activity.

Dosage and routes of administration of asenlix

Asenlix® comesas a box of 30 and 60 capsulesof clobenzorex hydrochloride 30 mg. The administrationis oraland the dosage as a reference, may be as follows:

  • Adults and children over 12 years of age: Administer two capsules a day, one before breakfast and one before lunch.

side effects of asenlix

Asenlix® treatment may cause some of the following adverse reactions in a certain patient population:

  • Possible allergic reactions due to the patient’s contact with any chemical component of the medication.
  • Pulmonary arterial hypertension.
  • Arterial hypertensive crisis.
  • Risk of developing pharmacological tolerance, dependence and withdrawal syndrome .
  • Some types of psychotic reactions, depression , nervousness, agitation, Sleep disturbances, and vertigo.
  • Seizures,headaches , tachycardia, palpitations and precordial pain.
  • Stroke, angina, myocardial infarction, heart failure and cardiac arrest.
  • Dry mouth and constipation .

Important: If during treatment with this drug the patient develops any of these symptoms or another that does not appear on the list, please discontinue use and notify your doctor .

Contraindications and warnings of asenlix

The use of asenlix® is contraindicated in the following circumstances:

  • Patient hypersensitivity to any component of the formula.
  • Patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension.
  • People with high blood pressure.
  • Patient with a medical history of psychiatric disorders, such as anorexia nervosa and depression.
  • In known drug abuse and/or dependence or alcoholism.
  • Children under 12 years of age and the elderly.
  • Patients with atherosclerosis, closed-angle glaucoma, risk of urinary Retention and in a state of agitation.
  • During the period of pregnancy or breastfeeding .

You should know: Before starting treatment with this drug, the patient must provide all the information regarding his health history to his doctor.

Avoid if you have:

  • History of hypersensitivity to the components of the formula.
  • Current or history of cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease.
  • Medication with antidepressants or monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).
  • Some therapy with some type of centrally acting anorexigenic drug.

Warnings:

  • Pharmaceutical products such as asenlix® must be administered with a prescription or prescription.
  • You should not exceed the recommended dose.
  • The duration of treatment is 4 to 6 continuous weeks and should not exceed 3 months.
  • Avoid administering this product at night, as it can cause nervousness and insomnia .
