What is afungil?
Afungil® is the brand of a synthetically manufactured medication, which uses fluconazole as its active ingredient , a chemical compound belonging to the line of antifungal medications with an effect on fungal infections .

What is afungil used for?
- Thanks to the mechanism of action of its active principle, afungil® inhibits the synthesis of sterols in fungi , resulting in the elimination of these and their annoying associated symptoms.
- It is used to treat:
- Mycoses such as dermatomycosis caused by tinea pedis, corporis, cruris, versicolor and unguium . (two)
- Cryptococcosis including meningitis.
- Systemic mucosal, acute or recurrent vaginal candidiasis.
- In the prophylaxis of patients with malignant tumors, dermatomycosis and deep mycoses.
Dosage and routes of administration of afungil
Afungil® presentations are in the form of a cardboard box with capsules containing fluconazole 150 mg and 100 mg; in vial for infusion of 50 ml containing fluconazole 100 mg. The administration of this medication is according to its presentation, being orally and intravenously (solution) and its dosage as a reference may be as follows:
- Cryptococcal infection: 400 mg is given on the first day followed by 200 to 400 mg once daily.
- Systemic candidiasis: The recommended dose is 400 mg on the first day followed by 200 mg daily.
- Dermatomycosis: Single dose of 1 capsule of 150 mg every 7 days.
afungil side effects
Therapeutic treatment with afungil® can generate in a certain population of patients , some of the following adverse effects:
- Possible allergic reactions due to patient contact with any of the components of the formula.
- Flatulence, nausea, abdominal pain , diarrhea and dyspepsia.
- Headache , dizziness and seizures.
- Alopecia, skin disorders, leukopenia.
- Risk of skin rash, bullous lesions or erythema multiforme.
Important: If during treatment with this drug the patient presents some of these symptoms or another not described, please stop using it and consult your doctor .
Contraindications and warnings of afungil
The use of afungil® is contraindicated in the following cases:
- Patient hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula.
- In children under 1 year of age.
- During the pregnancy period.
- During breastfeeding .

Avoid if you have:
- History of hypersensitivity to fluconazole or other compounds of the azole group, terfenadine and cisapride.
Warnings:
- Pharmaceutical products such as afungil® must be administered with prescription or medical prescription.

- Follow your doctor’s instructions during therapy with this drug.
