What is afumix?
Afumix® is the name of a commercial line product, which has in its composition theactive ingredient known asfluconazole, with antifungal characteristics for mycoses by bacteria present in the vaginal walls.

What is afumix for?
- Afumix® serves as a drug that is included in the treatment offemale patients with mycosis (process of infection by fungi or bacteria),since fluconazole is responsible forinhibiting the synthesis of fungito multiply through the infection caused. (2)
- It is used to treat:
- Bacterial vaginosis orvaginitis.
- Vaginal infections withcandida, gardnerella vaginalisandtrichomonas.
- Anaerobic bacterial infections.
Dosage and routes of administration of afumix
Afumix® comes in the form of boxes, with 4 broad-spectrum tablets of 37 mg of the active substance fluconazole, whose main route of administration is oral. The most recommended doses of afumix® are as follows:
- Adults: Give2 tablets every 12 hoursa day or 4 tablets together once a day, to treat vaginal infections.
Afumix Side Effects
Afumix® can bring with it a series of adverse effects like other types of antifungal drugs,so if they present them and the patient’s situation worsens, their use should be discontinued and a specialized doctor should be seen. The most notorious effects that are known are the following:
- Itching.
- Skin rash.
- Diarrhea .
- Urticaria.
- Flatulence.
Contraindications and warnings of afumix
Afumix® is one of those drugs that is not indicated for a specific patient population, since they could react dangerously upon contact with the metabolite of this drug, therefore caution should be exercised regarding its administration. It is not recommended for the following cases:
- Hypersensitivity to the active metabolite of fluconazole.
- Blood dyscrasias (abnormalities in the blood).
- Pregnancy.
- Breastfeeding _
Avoid if you have:
- severe liver damage.
- Arrhythmias.
- Renal insufficiency.
Warnings:
- The medication should preferably be used under a medical prescription.
- Keep this drug out of the reach of children.
- Store the medicine in dry environments.
- Ensure that the temperature for the conservation of this medication is less than 30°.
